This May, as family bonds take center stage at Ivy Global School, IGS is proud to honor Ms. Vo Thi Yen Trang – mother of Dang Vo Minh Phuc (Halliwell) from class 1B2. Her journey as a mother reflects not only personal dedication but also a broader shift in modern education and parenting. Through her persistence, adaptability, and commitment, she has played a crucial role in transforming her son Minh Phúc’s learning experience and development.

As a Finance and Accounting Manager overseeing the Asia-Pacific region, Ms. Trang leads a demanding professional life that requires frequent travel and high responsibility. Despite these challenges, she remains deeply involved in her child’s education. Rather than relying solely on the school system, she actively participates in her son’s learning process, studying alongside him and creating a consistent, focused environment at home. This balance between career and family demonstrates her exceptional sense of responsibility and determination.

One of her most significant contributions lies in her willingness to rethink traditional norms. She made a visionary decision to partner with the child’s grandmother, focusing on building Phuc’s English foundation from the ground up to prepare him for his academic journey at IGS. This decision required courage, patience, and a long-term vision, especially when the initial results were uncertain.

Her efforts extended beyond preparation. Even after Minh Phúc entered IGS, Ms. Trang continued to accompany him throughout his learning journey. She encouraged independence while still providing guidance, helping him develop not only language skills but also confidence and self-discipline. The results after six months were clear. Phuc went from having no English foundation to being more expressive in English, more confident in communication, and more proactive in his studies. Minh Phuc now naturally strikes up English conversations at home and excitedly reads signs at the mall. Shyness is a thing of the past; he’s now a natural in front of the camera, filming videos and experiments with ease. Most impressively, his independence has taken flight—he manages his own study schedule, preps for lessons, and isn't afraid to voice his own unique opinions. More than just a new language, it’s the growth of a bold, independent mind. Ms. Trang shares that Phuc now sees the world through the curious eyes of a young scientist, constantly connecting real-world wonders to the science lessons he learns in class."

In conclusion, Ms. Trang embodies the qualities of a modern parent who is willing to adapt, learn, and grow alongside her child. Her journey serves as an inspiring example of how dedication and thoughtful guidance can lead to meaningful and lasting change.

Eco Science Journey was exactly that kind of experience, a journey of observing, listening to, and connecting with the world around us. A journey of spreading meaningful messages through images, actions, and heartfelt everyday stories.

From Hear Earth’s Voice, where IGSers became the voice of nature, to the Eco Science Fair, where curiosity and hands-on exploration came to life.

💚 As this journey comes to a close, it has planted even more green seeds in the minds, hearts, and actions of our IGSers, inspiring them to care for the environment and our Earth starting today.

Với 4 buổi sinh hoạt, Câu lạc bộ Hùng biện đã cùng học sinh xây dựng được một số kỹ năng nhỏ, học cách nói rõ ràng và sáng tạo hơn, và thử sức ngoài vùng an toàn của mình ✨

Trong khi đó, Câu lạc bộ Thủ công mang đến màu sắc và sự thư giãn thông qua các buổi sinh hoạt với các hoạt động thực hành như vẽ chân dung tự họa, cây thông Noel, thiệp pop-up, phong bì đỏ và đèn lồng giấy 🎨✂️ Không phải sản phẩm nào cũng hoàn hảo - nhưng điều quan trọng là các IGSers đã học được sự kiên nhẫn, yêu thương bản thân, và tận hưởng thời gian trò chuyện và sáng tạo cùng bạn bè 🌈 Không chỉ vậy, một số IGSers đã đảm nhận vai trò làm người hướng dẫn, hỗ trợ những bạn khác thực hành và âm thầm phát triển kỹ năng lãnh đạo và giao tiếp của mình! 🌟

Ngoài sinh hoạt online, các câu lạc bộ cũng đã tổ chức các gian hàng trực tiếp tại sự kiện Jingle Fest, và quyên góp toàn bộ lợi nhuận cho dự án từ thiện của Hội đồng học sinh - Các con đã sử dụng tiếng nói của mình để hỗ trợ cho một mục đích tốt đẹp 💖

Học kỳ 1 chỉ là sự khởi đầu - với nhiều điều thú vị hơn nữa đang chờ đón các con phía trước! 🚀

Time flows through the gaps of our hands. Above us, the skies bloom red with flamboyant flowers, signaling the near end of the final semester. May has long been a season of growth, fertility, and renewal—a quiet rebirth. Named after the Roman goddess Maia, it marks the peak of spring in the Northern Hemisphere, where flowers blaze like phoenix fire and life begins anew. For students, May also heralds the long-awaited arrival of summer. 

Yet this season of growth appears not only in nature but also in the bonds that shape us—the people who nurture and guide us. Just as the earth is cared for and brought to life, so too are we raised with patience and devotion. It is no coincidence that within this month falls Mother’s Day, a celebration dedicated to those who embody care, sacrifice, and unconditional love. The day traces its origins to Anna Jarvis, who sought to honor her own mother’s lifelong dedication. What began as a personal tribute grew into a national movement, illustrating how meaningful change often starts with individuals who act with purpose.

The establishment of Mother’s Day did not happen suddenly; it emerged from a broader historical context shaped by social change. In the 19th century, grassroots movements recognized mothers in tangible ways. Ann Reeves Jarvis organized “Mothers’ Day Work Clubs” to improve public health and community care. After the Civil War, such efforts expanded to promote reconciliation, positioning mothers as unifying figures. These movements showed that motherhood was not only a private role but also a social force. By 1914, this shift led to official recognition, as Mother’s Day became a national holiday. 

Yet the true meaning of Mother’s Day lies in Anna Jarvis’s original intention. Her motivation was deeply personal but also ideological. She sought to redefine how society valued care and empathy, emphasizing the often unseen labor of mothers. Her vision was intimate and sincere, focused on gratitude rather than materialism. Even her later opposition to commercialization reinforces her purpose: Mother’s Day was meant to be a moment of awareness, not consumption. 

Ultimately, Mother’s Day represents more than a celebration. Set within May—a time of renewal—it reflects how individuals shape the world through small but meaningful actions. From community efforts to personal conviction, it reminds us that change begins with intention. Like Anna Jarvis, each of us has the ability to honor, appreciate, and contribute to a more compassionate society. 

Did you know that the term “April” is believed to be derived from an ancient Latin word, “Aperire”? This term translates to “to open,” much like the flowers that bloom under the warmth of April’s sun and the gentle rains that lead to May’s vibrant blossoms. The Earth is indeed a marvel of nature, wouldn’t you agree? Among the few planets capable of supporting life, we are fortunate that Mother Nature has bestowed upon us an abundance of breathtaking spectacles. From the majestic Grand Canyon to the towering Himalayas, the picturesque Napali Coast, and the stunning Ha Long Bay, these wonders are exquisite masterpieces crafted by nature's hand. 

However, it prompts one to ponder: will these extraordinary places endure, retaining their beauty, or will they fall victim to human influence? The harsh reality of pollution looms over us, with unforeseen consequences that threaten our planet’s health. 

On April 22nd, amidst those who chose not to remain passive as our natural world declined, stood a man who believed in the power of awareness to incite action. Rather than accepting pollution as an unavoidable outcome of progress, he viewed it as a pressing issue that required our collective responsibility. This visionary was Gaylord Nelson.

Born in 1916 in Clear Lake, Wisconsin, Gaylord Nelson’s early years were shaped by his surroundings—growing up in a small town enveloped by forests and lakes instilled in him a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. This passion later informed his political pursuits. After serving in World War II, he returned to study law and subsequently entered the realm of politics. As governor, he emphasized conservation programs and environmental protection long before they became commonplace topics of discussion. 

Upon reaching the Senate, he emerged as one of the earliest and staunchest advocates for environmental reform. During the 1970s, when ecological issues in the United States reached a critical point but environmental protection had yet to seize the political spotlight, Nelson opted to bring the matter directly to the populace. Drawing inspiration from the student “teach-ins” of the era, he proposed a nationwide environmental teach-in—a dedicated day for education, awareness, and civic engagement. 

On April 22nd, 1970, this vision materialized as the inaugural Earth Day. Approximately 20 million Americans participated, marking it as one of the largest civic demonstrations in United States history. What began as a singular day of awareness swiftly evolved into substantial changes, leading to the establishment of environmental protections and the creation of national policies aimed at safeguarding our air, water, and land. This initiative spurred significant reforms on the political front, giving rise to entities such as the EPA and pivotal legislation including the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.

Gaylord Nelson’s legacy transcends the mere founding of Earth Day; it is defined by his audacity to take action when such initiatives were far from popular. At a time when the importance of environmental protection was frequently dismissed, he opted for responsibility rather than silence. His example serves as a vital reminder that meaningful change originates not from authority, but from awareness and initiative. In our contemporary world, fraught with environmental challenges, his leadership exemplifies a standard that merits our continued admiration and emulation.

Qua những câu chuyện này, các em sẽ nhận ra hòa bình không chỉ là một giấc mơ, đó là thành quả mà chúng ta cùng nhau xây đắp bằng chính đôi tay và trái tim mình.
