This month, IGS is honouring Nguyễn Nam Việt (Danny, Grade 10th), an IGSer whose journey into VEX Robotics is a source of inspiration and resilience.

Danny’s interest in robotics began with someone very close to him, which is his best friend. Watching his friend join the robotics club, participate in numerous competitions, and travel to many different places sparked Danny’s curiosity. Seeing the excitement, teamwork, and opportunities that robotics offered inspired him deeply. What started as admiration soon turned into motivation.

Determined to challenge himself, Danny took the initiative to join the Robotics Club. First time entering a new field was not easy, but his willingness to learn helped him adapt quickly. Through countless hours of practice, problem-solving, and collaboration with his teammates, Danny grew not only in technical skills but also in confidence and discipline.

The highlight of this journey came when Danny’s team received the “Excellent Award” at a VEX Robotics competition. The achievement came as a huge and joyful surprise, marking a proud moment for Danny and his entire team. It was a powerful reminder that stepping out of one’s safe zone can result in remarkable outcomes.

Danny’s story reminds us that giving up is never the answer. Instead of letting challenges stop him, he turned every setback into motivation to move forward. From curiosity to passion, Danny chose to keep going, to keep learning, and to believe in himself. His journey encourages us all to face difficulties with courage and determination and to always keep growing, just like Danny.

As we step into the new year, Ivy Global School is delighted to recognize our December Student Stars from Kindergarten through Grade 8.

These students wrapped up the year with dedication to learning, along with kindness, responsibility, and a positive spirit — qualities that will continue to support them as they move forward into new beginnings.

The Season of Joy festival has successfully concluded in both regions with heart-warming results:

Jingle Fest was more than just a celebration; it was a heart-warming journey of sharing. We are so proud of our students for taking the lead and running creative booths to support the community:

During Jingle Fest, members of the Public Speaking Club and Art & Craft Club added a special spark to the celebration through their creative, student-led booths. Beyond showcasing their skills, students chose to donate all proceeds from their activities to the Student Council’s charity project, Above The Waves.

🎤 The Public Speaking Club booth attracted many students with lively quiz games, where members confidently demonstrated their facilitation, presentation, and audience-engagement skills. It also provided a valuable opportunity for club members to connect with fellow talented students across the IGS community.

🎨 Meanwhile, the Art & Craft Club created a warm, festive space through a Christmas card–making activity. With creativity and care, students crafted charming handmade cards that reflected the spirit of sharing and the joy of the holiday season.

💛 IGS sincerely appreciates the initiative, sense of responsibility, and meaningful contributions of our club members and the wider IGS community.

🎓 IGS Students Explore Learning at Keiser University Hanoi

In December, Ivy Global School students took part in a school tour and Cheese Fondue workshop at Keiser University Vietnam (KUV).
The visit offered valuable insights into an international university environment in Vietnam — from academic programs and facilities to global study and scholarship opportunities.

The highlight of the day was a hands-on workshop led by Mr. Urs Eberhardt, Regional Director Asia Pacific from Business & Hotel Management School, where students explored both the craft of cheese fondue and the culture of professionalism within the hospitality industry.

Congratulations to Huynh Nguyen Duc Nguyen on winning the Gold Cup at the ASIA Business Simulation (ABS) 2025 – STAR Round Hanoi.

Competing in the Primary Division with his team EPIMONI, Duc Nguyen stood out among nearly 400 students from 120 schools nationwide, demonstrating strong leadership, teamwork, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
This outstanding achievement has earned Duc Nguyen a place at the World Youth Economic Forum (WYEF) Global Finals 2026.

🎉 Wishing Duc Nguyen and his team continued confidence, curiosity, and success in future challenges.

The Vietnam National Golf Team delivered an impressive performance at SEA Games 33 in Thailand, bringing home three medals for Vietnamese sports.

As the Lunar New Year approaches, I find myself thinking not only about fireworks and red envelopes, but about the quiet moments of reunion—sitting with my family, listening to elders speak about the past, and reflecting on the year behind me. These moments feel deeply meaningful, and through this reflection, I realized how strongly they echo the teachings of Confucius.

Born in 551 BCE during a time of social chaos, Confucius grew up in poverty after losing his father at a young age. These hardships shaped his belief that a stable society begins with moral individuals and strong family bonds. Rather than seeking power through force, he chose education as his path. Confucius traveled across states, teaching anyone willing to learn, regardless of background. Although he was not widely recognized during his lifetime, his students preserved his teachings, allowing his ideas to spread and eventually shape East Asian culture for centuries.

One of Confucius’s core beliefs was filial piety—the respect and care for parents and elders. This value is clearly reflected during the Lunar New Year, when families return home, honor ancestors, and prioritize unity. His teaching that “Filial piety and brotherly respect are the root of humanity” reminds me to appreciate my family, even during disagreements or busy times.

Confucius also emphasized self-reflection and personal growth, encouraging people to examine themselves before criticizing others. During the New Year, I now see reflection not as a routine tradition, but as a chance to improve myself and repair relationships.

From Confucius, I have learned that true change does not begin with grand actions, but with respect, reflection, and harmony within the family. His legacy inspires me to carry these values forward—not just during the New Year, but throughout my life.
