DECEMBER 2023 | The Official Newsletter of Ivy Global School

Dear valued Students, Parents and Colleagues,

The savory aromas of my Thanksgiving dinner fade from my kitchen and the Christmas music starts to play. Colorful lights, vibrant yard decorations and frost grace my chilly Massachusetts neighborhood. As I ready my snow equipment in preparation for the first storm, I am reminded that our students must prepare for the second half of their term.

Mid-term reports have been sent home; parents and students now have an opportunity to officially take stock and evaluate efforts to date. Even though routines have been made and the half way point is celebratory for all, now is not a time to forget goals once set. As the holidays bring much fun, we must remember to stay focused and orient ourselves to stay on our desired path for success. In fact, we are approaching the New Year’s holiday and it is common practice to set resolutions for the upcoming year. This is a time to turn inward for self-reflection in a search for needed self-improvements. This is a time for forward thinking and planning.

However, this is not to say that fun cannot still be had. Now is also a time for students to celebrate their abilities beyond the classroom. The upcoming Ivy Global Talent Show gives all of our students an opportunity to share their unique abilities. It is important we encourage our youth to turn into well-rounded individuals both in and outside of the classroom alike. I
encourage us all to play as hard as we work.

Acknowledge your efforts to date, but recognize that we are only halfway to the end-of-term finish line. If you stay focused, you can rest assured that the Ivy Global finish line will be awaiting your triumphant arrival. Please remember that success is always there for the taking, but the choice to grasp it is purely yours!

The end of the year is always the most anticipated time for many of us. Halloween has just passed, Christmas is approaching, and soon, we will bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one. During this time, everyone is busy preparing for work to quickly reunite with family, including a winter that may be cold but is truly warm. However, this simple happiness is not something everyone can have. Just take a moment to look around, and you will see that while many students are excited not to go to school, there are children who no longer dream of the day they can go to school. Another year has passed, yet nothing has changed. These children still lack proper nutrition, live in a warm family, and do not receive the education they deserve to change their future. For them, dreaming of something grand is unimaginable. It is too far-fetched.

Therefore, the Student Council of Ivy Global School has officially launched the "Tết Yêu Thương" project. Collaborating with the Blue Dragon Children's Foundation - a non-governmental organization with a mission to rescue children and women from human trafficking and forced labor, and Green Life - a non-profit environmental protection organization, the Ivy Global School Student Council wants to contribute to helping these children rise from difficulties, build dreams by providing school supplies packages to help them have a better future.

🌟 Parents can contribute to the children in the following ways:
1. Contribute to the children via MOMO or bank transfer:
The Bi Dragon Package - 50,000 VND: Includes essential learning tools such as notebooks, pencils, erasers, etc.
The Bo Dragon Package - 150,000 VND: Includes The Bi Dragon Package and other items such as exam papers, rulers, crayons, etc.
The Big Dragon Package - 200,000 VND: Includes The Bo Dragon Package and other items such as purple ink pens, ink bottles, notebook labels...

2. Buy environmentally friendly products to support the project (Without additional costs):
Parents have contributed 21% of the product value to the project fund for every product purchased at Ivy Global School.
Products from Green Life - a non-profit environmental protection organization established in 2018 - sold at Ivy Global School are selected based on the criteria: environmentally friendly, essential in daily life, and affordable.

3. Share this project to raise awareness of child protection by sharing on personal social media platforms!

"Aiming for the future, love does not fade." Let's spread warm love to the little ones in these last days of the year so that they can also enjoy a fulfilling Tet. For more detailed information, please visit the program's official website.

This October, let's know more about Dancing!

💡 The first talent exploration club at IGS - The Spotlight - brings the students an exciting session - Learn to Dance ❤️‍🔥Through 1.5-hour-exchange-session, students got to:

✨ Get to know different genres of dancing, especially hip-hop dancing (AY YO!)
✨ Discover the hip-hop world - It is not just a dance genre; it's a culture!
✨ Get the chance to learn one hip-hop-style choreography!

IGS believes that exposure to diversity in artistic fields helps each child find their passion to pursue!
Let's watch the highlight below!

The Spotlight Club

Podcast "The Spotlight" - Learn more about diverse professions!

Joining The Spotlight that is delivered by the Student Council this time is Ms. Lê Ngọc Mai Xuân. She is filled with a variation of skill sets that is demonstrated by her licenses and certifications in education, as well as a well-built experience from being a teaching assistant of Apax Lears, the Head of the English Team at STEAMe GARTEN, to being one of the most dedicated online educators of Ivy Global School.

In this podcast, not only that students learn more about education, but they can also have some useful pieces of life advice that Ms. Xuân has as a reflection from her own life story.

Perhaps for many youths, the largest question is “What should I do in the future?”. When childhood is over and it is time to make an imperative choice that dictates their lives, many feel anxious when having no specific orientation at all. Ms. Xuân herself has also been through that feeling. When asked about whether or not this career path is her dream job, she said “When I was a child, I actually dreamt to be a mermaid”, and that dream changed rapidly until she found herself not having a single idea of what she wanted to do as an adult.
Nevertheless, she also thinks that no one can ever truly choose exactly what their future can be like, and it is fine. Just go with the flow, do what you love, and make yourself happy.

Let’s all listen to Ms.Xuân’s sharing, to explore her career, and to explore yourself. ❤️‍🔥

Podcast "The Spotlight": Ep.2 - Education

✨To prepare for the first IGS student council with the necessary skills for upcoming activities, two training sessions were held last November. Accompanying these two sessions is Ms Dang Tran Thu Giang - an experienced expert in project planning and event organization with a background in Public Relations. With her experience, Ms. Giang has brought a lot of valuable and helpful knowledge to the student council.

- Training session 3: Program planning & event organization
- Training session 4: Marketing Plan & Project Evaluation

At the end of the first training series, we hope that the student council has been fully equipped and received many values to help you become more stable and confident in organizing useful activities in the future! ❤️‍🔥
